Joe, I used your site to learn more about the Lochside and Galloping Goose trails. Excellent write up and great pics. It iensirpd a friend and I to do the rideâ¦twice so far. The first ride was June last year. The two of us parked at the Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal and cycled from Sidney to Victoria on day 1. Day 2 we rode from the Strathcona Hotel in Victoria to Sooke and back. Day3 we rode home from Victoria to the Ferry. We enjoyed it a lot. What a fabulous ride. We decided to stay in Victoria for the night life. The same friend and I did the ride again just last week. Except this time we brought another couple of âJoe Averageâ middle aged type friends and cycled from Surrey all the way to Tswassen. One of my buddies rode a Redumbentâ¦err uh Recumbent pretty cool actually. The ride to Tsawwassen from my house in Fraser Heights is actually very good. From my house I simply go over Hwy 1 on the new Tynehead cycle bridge, cycle the paved path thru Tynehead park and link up with the Green Timbers Greenwayâ¦which is also paved path. This takes you all the way to Surrey Memorial Hospital area. Then we cross King George Hwy on 92 Ave (less than a km) and link up with the Wild Flower Greenway taking us to 128th street. Then we turn left on 128th St. This is the only bummer part since we have to take 128th St. about 8 blocks to 82nd aveâ¦but the road is wideâ¦so not a big worry. Then we turn right on 82 ave and follow it less than a click until we turn left on the Serpentine Greenwayâ¦more paved path that takes you all the way to 62A ave. When the trail ends we get back on 128th continuing South and heading through Panorama ridge down a big hill (quiet roads). After reaching the bottom of the hill we end up on Colebrook Roadâ¦right next to Hwy 99. From here we go under Hwy 99 and access Mud bay park. From Mud Bay we follow a really sweet 14 km packed gravel shoreline trail all the way to Tsawwassen. It is a flat, quiet, and scenic path along the ocean that takes you into Tsawwassen. The total route from my house to the Ferry is about 50 km and is well over 95% cycle path. An alternative for you (from Burnaby) would be to take the Central Valley Greenway to the New West Sky train station. Take Sky train with your bikes and get off in Surrey at the last sky train station. From there you can quickly get on the Green Timbers Greenway and take a great biking route to the ferry terminal. Anywayâ¦I wanted to thank you for documenting the Lochside and Gallopping Goose rides and let you know that it is possible to ride into Tsawwassen using paths. Alsoâ¦I just found out that we ride the same bike. I also bought a 2008 Devinci Copenhagen. I upgraded the brakes to Avid Juicy 3.5 hydraulic brakesâ¦and they are awesome. I have over 5000 kms on this bike and love it.
